Attempt to edit

For the last few days of class Roscoe and I have been trying to edit. At first, our issue was making all of the videos horizontal. This was not possible so we decided to make them all vertical because we filmed every shot vertical once. This also did not work because some of them were turned sideways when we uploaded them. We could fix this problem but it would cut off some of the shots. This made each shot vertical but some had different dimensions then others. We continued trying different ways to make all of the shots the same size but nothing has worked. We have decided to use iMovie instead of Pinnacle Studios but that means we will have to start over. We thought we would have to wait to start editing till I got home and to my computer with iMovie but I found the app. We began editing in school and all went well.
The iMovie app worked very well. I uploaded the footage and put the scenes in order. Then, I added the music. After, I cut the shots so that they went well with the music. I also had to mute the ambient sound from the shots. The last thing I did was put transitions. I used the dissolve for every transition because it looked the best. Our time ended up being 1 minute and 21 seconds. It was supposed to be between 1 minute 5 seconds and 1 minute 15 seconds. I might cut it when I finish editing but only if it does not mess up the sound timing.
I still have a few things to do in the editing process. At the end of our video the camera faces the sky. I am hoping to add text that says ‘the end’ in that part. This will add a unique, creative aspect to our music video. I also might cut some of the footage to make the video flow better. Altogether, the editing process with iMovie went very well. Despite the issues with Pinnacle Studios our music video turned out well. The video follows are storyboard with minimal changes. The video has many different shots and angles. All of the parts came together to make the video look great.

Music Video Filming... or not

We have not done anymore filming since the last time. We filmed all of the shots in the Music Video. We hope we will not have to film again. In the case that we have to film again we anticipate that the shots would be the ones of me and my dog, Evie. These shots will be easy film again since I live walking distance from the park. Transportation will be easy because only one dog and one person are in the shots we may need to reshoot. The reason we may need to reshoot these parts of the music video is that they were filmed vertically on my phone. We know how to make them horizontal. The only issue is that it would cut some of the top and bottom off of the screen. So we will wait to see if it fits correctly in the editing process.

Roscoe and I chose to film everything the first weekend possible. We did this because I went on vacation over thanksgiving break. This is also beneficial because we still have time to film anything we have too again. Another reason filming early was helpful is we have more in class time to edit so there will be no time issue with the editing software. We were able to film so quickly everything went so well the first time we filmed. Everyone showed up on time and was easy to work with. The dogs were obedient and friendly. The weather was perfect. We started early so we never ran out of daylight. We even had some last minute dogs and actors who were willing to be in the video.

Our biggest worry is that the footage will not be filmed correctly for the video. The software at school is very hard to work with. Even uploading the footage from my phone can be hard. This is the only case in which we might need to film again. We would do this to make the editing part of production easier. The filming process went very smoothly. It was easier then we had thought. We were fully prepared and the results were very good. We learned that we must always film horizontally when using our phones. Filming went as planned by the storyboard and is ready to be edited.
